Spring Meadow is a state park that has grown from the remnants of industry. It is about 60 acres of land with a 30 acre man-made lake. It is spring fed and well used during the summer by swimmers, fisher-people, and non-motorized boaters. In the winter, hard-core folks icefish on the lake. Pets are forbidden from mid-April through mid-october (waterfowl nesting season) and must be leashed the remainder of the year.
The trail around the lake is flat and level, and about half the distance is paved. The remainder is weathered granite. You can take a short, paved trail up the slope near the pavilion to a service and road and make your way to the Centennial Tenmile Connector trail (see below). Doing this will allow you to add up to three more miles of walking with a creekside trail and open field views of the mountains surrounding Helena.
